Summer Howarth spends her days championing teachers and positioning students as partners in learning. She commutes between her two homes in Melbourne and the Adelaide Hills (with frequent trips to Darwin; her favourite!) Summer travels across the country to work with great teams and has proudly worked across every education system and sector in Australia. Her passion, experience and unique perspective has established her as one of the most sought after learning experience designers & facilitators in education.
Summer is a key figure behind some of Australia’s most forward-thinking learning and innovation strategies for education systems including positioning students as decision makers in their learning with The Northern Territory Learning Commission, supporting the formation of the the NSW DOVES & NT Youth Voice Peak Group and National Student Voice Forum for the Commonwealth (Aus).
She has delivered projects and professional development alongside teams including, the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER), Australian Council for Education Leadership (ACEL), Center for Strategic Education (CSE), The Global Education Taskforce on the UNSDGs, IDEO’s Teacher’s Guild, and Melbourne University, as well as extensive student voice consultation for governments including NT, SA and NSW.
Summer holds a double Bachelors degree in Arts (Geography & History) and Education and a Masters Degree in Science (Geographical Education), has been named three times on the annual Educator Hotlist, was a 2019 & 2021 finalist in the Melbourne Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards and holds a Global Paul Harris Fellowship for services to Girl’s Education. Summer continues to serve on non-profit boards including the National Advisory Council for Be You (Beyond Blue), and serves as an advisor for startups and community groups all in support of promoting the great work of education professionals and those involved in teaching and learning.
